Every month at FIT4MOM Naperville, we get to do one of my favorite things: celebrate the moms who hit a class milestone. We LOVE getting to celebrate them, plan a little extra special something for them and really make sure they know how incredible they are.
And, we love seeing their names together in one photo because I know how much life happened between that first class and the one we’re celebrating today.
There were mornings when everyone needed something before she’d even had her coffee. Evenings when it would’ve been easier to head straight home. Days when she walked in tired, got moving next to a friend, and left feeling a little more like herself.
Those are the days that add up.
It’s easier to come back when someone knows your name.
Walking into your first group fitness class can really take A LOT of planning, prep and maybe even some deep breaths. But, then someone waves you over. An instructor helps you find a version of the move that feels right for you. A few classes later, you catch yourself texting, “Are you going tomorrow?”
That’s one of my favorite things about group fitness. You get stronger, and you get people to share the experience with. On the days when you’re excited to work out, that makes it more fun. On the days when you’re on the fence, knowing a friend will be there can be what gets you out the door. And when life pulls you away for a week or a month, it feels good to walk back into a room where someone says, “I’m so glad you’re here.”
Moms deserve to hear “Look what you did,” too!
We spend so much of motherhood celebrating everyone else’s milestones. We take the first-day pictures, cheer from the sidelines, and make a big deal out of the little things because we know how good it feels to be seen. Moms need that feeling, too.
A class milestone gives you a chance to stop and notice something that’s easy to miss in the middle of a busy week. You’ve been making time for yourself, one class at a time. Seeing those classes add up can give you a little more confidence that you can keep making room for yourself, even when your routine gets messy.
To the moms in each month’s milestone photo, we’re so proud of you. And to the mom who just took her first class or came back after a long stretch away, we’re cheering for you, too. We’re glad we get to be part of the time you make for yourself.
