HOW TO BUILD WELLNESS THAT LASTS

As moms we don't need another massive reset, we need sustainable.

Most wellness advice is built around intensity: Go all in. Overhaul it all. Be more disciplined.

But if you’re a mom, you already are disciplined. You show up every day for everyone else; even when you're tired, sick, worn down, overwhelmed. The problem isn’t in ability to do something hard... it’s that most wellness plans aren’t built for real life with kids.

Lasting wellness is about building systems and habits that can survive the non-ideal : busy seasons, sick kids, and sleepless nights.

And we're gonna give you 6 action items to help you do just that.

1. START SMALLER THAN YOU THINK YOU NEED TO

Most people overestimate what they can do in a week, and underestimate what they can do in a year.

Research on habit formation shows that consistency beats intensity almost every time. Small, repeatable actions are more likely to stick because they require less motivation and less decision-making.

Even if you have a laundry list of things you want to improve, start with the smallest of changes can have the biggest ripple effect.

Are you taking a spring break trip, planning a summer vacation, or a winter escape? Will you be traveling with your baby for the first time? Wondering how to survive the airport or what to bring? Look no further! We have compiled the very best travel tips from our village of moms to help make your trip less stressful and more enjoyable!

Preparing

-Read airplane books or show videos of planes before the flight so your little one is interested and excited to board

-Plan to bring a couple of bigger suitcases for the family rather than smaller ones for each member

-Visit Amazon, the Dollar Store, or Target Dollar Section for activities, small toys, individual snack items

-Download kid friendly shows or movies to your devices in advance

Diaper Bag Musts

-Clorox wipes

-Hand sanitizer

-Puppy pads to lay down on the changing tables

-Extra diapers, wipes, outfit for baby (and maybe for parents) cause you never know when a blowout or spit up might happen

-Grocery sac to use as a trash bag

-Don’t forget an empty sippy cup or water bottle to fill after you’ve made it through security

Hospital Must Haves

Whether you're a first-time mom or you've already packed a few hospital bags there always seems to be something you wish you had (or hadn't) brought along. We polled our village and came up with the following list of must-have items for momma and baby!

Mom's Pajamas/Robe/Slippers

The most mentioned must-have items were comfy pajamas for mom or a cozy robe and either slippers or flip flops. Postpartum mommas seem to want all the comfort items possible as they prepare to head home with baby!

Extra Long Phone Charger

Friends and family will be so excited for all of those pictures of your new bundle of joy and with the lack of visitors, you may spend a little more time on your phone than normal. The extra-long cord will certainly come in handy!

A Pillow from Home

The third most mentioned must-have was a pillow from home. Comfort for mom still seems to be a top priority.
